Just a good Sunday
No theme, no special programming - just Market in the Valley doing what it does best on a mostly sunny August morning. Sunday, August 9, 9 am to 1 pm under the Water Tower.

From the market journal archive. Dates, vendors, and events below refer to this article’s week.
Some Sundays at the market come with a banner and a theme. This one doesn't. There's no special programming on August 9 - and honestly, those are some of our favorite mornings.
No agenda means you can take your time. Walk the whole loop before you buy anything. Have the long conversation with the grower about which tomato is best for slicing. Let the music play a few songs before you decide where to eat. August in Minnesota is short, and a slow Sunday morning is one of the better ways to spend it.
The weather is on board, too - mostly sunny and climbing toward the mid-80s, with the rain politely waiting until after we've packed up.
Straight From Nearby Fields
This is the stretch our growers work all year for. Beck's, Svihel's, Lor Produce, Yang's Fresh Flowers and Vegetables, Bao Yang, 2JCK Produce, and The Farm of Minnesota will have sweet corn, sun-ripened tomatoes, crisp greens, beans, berries, and whatever else came out of the field this week. Mark Freiderichs Gladiolas joins us with armloads of cut gladiolas - a stem or two turns a kitchen table into an occasion.
Bakers, Roasters & Specialty Makers
The aisles smell like bread all morning. Cafe Verte, BAKE! Gluten Free Goodies, Great Harvest Bread Company, The Nelson Loaf, and Cornerstone Wellness handle that department. Round out the basket with Caribbean Heat, Yummytizers, Ms. Julia's Seasonings, and Summer Lakes Beverages, and pick up a proper cup from TNT Coffee Lab.
The Pantry Shelf
Stock up on the local staples that keep: golden jars from Bee Sweet Honey, pickles and preserves from Schyma's, a wedge or two from the Wisconsin Cheese Outlet, and pasture-raised meat from the Veteran's Farming Initiative.
Handmade & Homegrown
Our makers are worth the browse. Elena's Cute Creations, Miz Mollys Closet, Your Crafts & Collectibles, Wonder Paper Art, Aletha Jean Decor, Tropical Island Seashells, ABC by Karla, and Hand Heart Beads bring the handmade goods. Sarahgirl Soap has the self-care shelf covered, and Norwex and Wild Iron Cooking have beautifully made things for the kitchen and the home.
Hungry Now? Ready to Eat
Come with an appetite. Crepe & Cake, JM Bistro, Atacama Catering, Natasha's Pierogis, Midlife Coffee, and Lziza Mediterranean will keep you fed from open to close.
Meet Our Community Partners
Say hello to the neighbors who make this a community and not just a marketplace: PRISM, the University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardeners (bring your late-summer garden questions - this is the month they get good ones), the League of Women Voters, Calvary Cooperative, the City of Golden Valley, and Renewal by Andersen.
Start Your Sunday Right
Roll out your mat for a free yoga session with Hand Heart Yoga at 9:30 am, then let the morning carry itself. Mark Yannie is playing the full stretch, 9:00 to 1:00 - one long set from open to close.
See who's here this week on our This Week's Vendors page, and we'll see you Sunday, August 9, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at 7800 Golden Valley Road - under the Water Tower. No agenda required.
