There's nothing quite like a warm Sunday morning at the market — and this week, we're making it a little sweeter.
This Sunday, July 12, the market is celebrating National Sugar Cookie Day. In honor of the occasion (officially July 9), the Golden Valley Community Foundation will be handing out free sugar cookies from Cookie Cart to market guests while supplies last. If you haven't met them, Cookie Cart is a North Minneapolis nonprofit that gives teens their first job experience and the skills to build a future — so every cookie comes with a good story behind it.
Of course, there's plenty more to fill your basket. Our growers are bringing the best of midsummer: just-picked greens and vegetables, fresh-cut flowers, local honey, and Wisconsin cheese. Add warm bread and pastries from our bakers, jams and pickles for the pantry, and breakfast or lunch from the food trucks — pierogis, Mediterranean, fresh-roasted coffee and more. Browse handmade pottery, jewelry, woodwork, and crafts while you're at it.
Start your morning with free yoga at 9:30 am courtesy of Hand Heart Yoga, then settle in for live music all morning — Irish tunes from 9:00 to 11:00, followed by Brian Peterson from 11:00 to 1:00. Have a garden question? The Master Gardeners will be on hand, along with community friends like PRISM and the Golden Valley Community Foundation.
